When Julia DeVillers was in high school, she wrote a letter to a friend who had moved away. Her friend saved the letter and returned it a few years ago. The letter included a list of things Julia wanted to accomplish in her life, such as:
Do something glamorous!
Have the best friends ever!
Win a shopping spree!
Get published!
Help the world!
Get a really cute boyfriend!
This list became the inspiration for the plot of her brand new novel How My Private Personal Journal Became a Bestseller. In the book, 14-year-old Jamie gets to fulfill Julia's list of wishes... and more.
Julia grew up in the suburbs of Albany, New York, with an identical twin sister and a younger sister. She loved to read, and she and her twin regularly won the local library summer reading contest. After receiving a B.A. in communications and an M.A. in journalism, she began her career working in educational publishing. As an editorial director, she tried to help create textbooks that were less excruciatingly boring than those she had been forced to read in school.
She now writes from her home office in Columbus, Ohio, where she lives with her husband and two young children.
Julia is also the author of the Tuned In series, a paperback fiction series for girls offered exclusively at Limited Too stores and on LimitedToo.com.
Her nonfiction books include Girlwise: How to Be Confident, Capable, Cool and In Control (2002) and Teen Girlfriends: Celebrating the good times, getting through the hard times (2001).
